The History of the Pickin’ in Parsons Festival
It all began with a married couple Joyce and John Bowers, who are big music fans. They bonded over attending music festivals all over the country and decided to create one of their own. They took a leap of faith and sold everything to move to Tucker County and chase this dream.
The first Pickin’ in Parsons festival was wholly self-funded and took place in 2004. The first event attracted 50 guests with its day of music from six bands. The festival today is several days long and features Grammy-winning musicians. Some past performers were The Caleb Daugherty Band, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, and Rhonda Vincent.
