Perfect spot for a multifamily vacation
We took a multifamily vacation to this house. 15 people, and we never felt crowded. A lot of the furniture is older, but it’s very sturdy. The house is very clean. Hot tub worked great and was a wonderful treat for the kids. Right on the ski slope. The kitchen was equipped with so many pots pans, and all the things that you would need to cook family dinners as well as coffee pots, and Keurig. Also a second fridge in the laundry room. Office staff were extremely friendly and helpful when we had trouble with the Wi-Fi. (Our fault, not theirs)Would recommend to anyone.

Family Ski Vacation
The house was great for ski in- ski out location. The slopes had enough variety to keep all levels of skiers entertained. The house was very clean and the kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies as well as plates and utensils.

Lost River Lodge

Always look forward to staying at this location. A few plumbing glitches which were taken care of immediately (thank you maintenance). Excellent time of year to experience Cannan Valley. Some furniture removed since past year and not replaced. Hot tub cover and headrests could use improving. Loved the Adirondack polywood chairs(a few additional would be excellent). Overall love coming here.

CanAm Spyder Ride Trip
The space was great for our group of 11 adults. We felt it could have been cleaner. Some of the furniture is tired and worn as are the pots and pans. The BBQ was very dirty. The roof leaked so the couch was wet and we had a rainy week. TV converters were missing in bedrooms and some not working properly. We made the best of the trip and had a good time anyway.

Slope side vacation home

Our stay at Best of Canaan was perfect. The house is large , roomy but also cozy. We had 3 families and everyone had their own space and we had great together space. To be able to walk out the door to the slopes cannot be overstated! The rental was updated, clean and very user friendly. We would definitely stay here again

Family Reunion
Used this home along with another adjacent property to hold a extended weekend family reunion. Homes were in good shape and allowed us to enjoy our stay. Kudos to Best of Canaan for being responsive to calls about picking up garbage in timely manner. Overall a great experience!

Great 4th of July Experience

Lost River Lodge was the perfect place for our family of 13 to celebrate the 4 th of July weekend! The cabin is absolutely beautiful with a bedroom and bath for each family. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes and utensils for use while you stay. You will need to provide extra garbage bags, paper towels and dishwashing detergent if you cook a lot. Our family enjoyed the large dining table for family meals. The bedrooms had either king or queen beds. Our grandson enjoyed his own room with twin beds. The family also enjoyed the large deck and hot tub. We also had a fire in the fire pit each evening. Canaan Valley and the darling towns of Thomas and Davis provided much to do. We had dinner at Milo’s Cafe and it was delicious! All in all it was a very enjoyable weekend and the cabin was great! The only recommendation I would make is that the two grills need to be replaced. The propane grill would not light and the charcoal grill has seen it’s better days. Other than that, it was a perfect place to stay! We would love to return!

Critique of 4-day stay at Lost River Lodge

We take 4 days every spring to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Canaan Valley. Our group, of approximately 16 adults has been doing this for almost 40 years. We love the place. We started by staying during only winter months, but, due to age have pretty much switched to summer. The hiking and comeraderie are the most popular activities, and we still ski a little bit. Lost River Lodge provides a well-equipped, pleasant experience, that is centrally located.

Annual Ski trip Timberline

We were fortunate to book this property for our group of friends who has been enjoying annual ski trip to Timberline for over 15 years. The location is fabulous and the layout and room configuration worked out perfectly for 5 couples +. The hot tub was ��, the game table saw some competition and the large long high dining table hosted some good games as well. The couch is dangerous, if you want to stay awake! The kitchen had all the essentials, including crockpot. The home was clean and comfortable. Beware, this property will be booked annually by our group...

Winter Fun!

We stayed at Lost River Lodge for a long ski weekend at Timberline and truly enjoyed the ease of the ski-in/ski-out location. The house was perfect for our group and we got lots of use out of the hot tub. Kitchen was well stocked and driveway was plowed!

Amazing experience!

The chalet was beautiful, well maintained, very clean, and has an amazing atmosphere. Snow making machines positioned along the trail was an amazing touch to a beautiful place. Timberline is a great place for skiing, and overall it was a 5 star experience.

Lost River Lodge
We have stayed at this house for years. THe owners have upgraded and remodeled since last year plus painted. All comments have been favorable. They do need a new mattress in the master bedroom. We are in the process of renting this house again next year so hopefully if sold the new owners will continue to rent. Thank you!!! The folks (Lorraine) in the office have been extremely helpful and nice...thank you!!!

The only issue with this year stay was the fact that we could not use any bathroom the first night or early the next morning. Because of the backup the downstairs had a very strong odor, however the response to the situation was very good and the problem fix by lunch. This was the only issue that was a problem. Thanks

Our Yearly Family Ski Trip

What do give your family for Christmas when they need nothing? Answer: a Ski Vacation in Canaan. Love the house and location. The stove and microwave quite old and slow (especially gas stove). The towels, hot pads... are really starting to show wear and discolor as are some of the pots and pans. The DVD player on mail floor (not ground level)tv room does not work (didn't last yr either)...blueray might be nice since most DVD's are now this if you bring your own. Also the sectional couch in main floor left reclining section leans sideways when reclined (just to let you know)other furniture in good shape. It would be nice to have the Tv on 3rd floor slopeside master up on a higher stand since can't see the whole screen when in bed (too low). Love the layout, view of slope, gas fireplace, big table for our family gathering, nice hot tub. Cathedral ceiling light bulbs need replacing (only 2 out of 6 worked) as did lights over island in kitchen and several other places. Master king mattress on main floor is quite worn. We didn't find dish detergent or laundry detergent there when arrived (think this was mentioned in the new write-up). Also a few bathrooms didn't have spare toilet paper roll but all had soap and liquid soap at sink which was great. These comments may seem picky but just some suggestions to make the stay even more enjoyable.
