Leave your cares behind and escape to this beautiful post and beam masterpiece. This house features a newly remodeled bedroom on the main floor, updated appliances in the kitchen, and new furnishings throughout. The open floor plan provides ample space for reconnecting with family and friends. The fireplace in the living room is surrounded by plenty of comfortable seating while the downstairs family room features air hockey and large flat screen TV. The yard is complete with a sunken patio garden, horseshoe pits, and a hammock - perfect for a day of relaxing. The home lies in a wonderful setting where summer guests can hike, bike, hunt, or fish in the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area and Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Winter guests can enjoy the downhill skiing at Timberline and Canaan Resort or cross country skiing and snowshoeing at White Grass. When nighttime rolls around, whether it’s been a day on the slopes, a day in the wilderness, or a day on the couch, everyone will love gathering around the warmth of the outdoor chiminea or soaking in the large hot tub - all the while keeping an eye to the sky for that first wonderful twinkle that signals the beginning of another Starry Night. This home is protected with an outside security camera. Winter access will require 4 or all-wheel drive vehicles with appropriate tires.

Wonderful time in a wonderful place
WE could not have been more pleased with this beautiful home and the service of the managers at Best of Canaan. It is everything the description claimed it would be and more. Spacious, clean, well appointed and enjoyed by three generations of our family. I would highly recommend it.

Lovely home
Great home with separate seating areas, a beautiful deck and hot tub and stocked kitchen. Some of the furniture was fairly tired, but this is probably the norm for vacation rentals. The HOA plowed the snow immediately and Best of Canaan was very accommodating.

Wonderful Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Starry Nights. With three young kids, the quiet backyard was perfect. We loved the private driveway that made the home feel completely secluded. The inside was clean, cozy, and included everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Checking in and out was super easy and the staff were super friendly, welcoming us, giving directions straight to our rental, and providing info about local attractions. We love Starry Nights and hope to be back in the future!

Friends’ Getaway

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in this beautiful home. The setting was lushly wooded and private. We enjoyed all of the outdoor space, especially the hot tub, chiminea, and dining area on the deck. The home’s large windows maximize the peaceful views, and deer visited us every day. The interior is very open and spacious, with a good-sized kitchen, large dining table, and comfy seating areas. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking gear, but unlike some rentals, does not provide any spices or staples, so bring everything you need. We did have a slight problem finding the right sleeping arrangements for each person in our group, as the twin mattresses in the lower level bedroom are sadly in need of replacement. Nonetheless, we still plan to return to this lovely home.

Peaceful vacation
This house was exactly as described. We loved the location and privacy. There was nothing better after a day exploring the area to return to the hot tub. The patio area was very relaxing, and we enjoyed watching the deer. The house was roomy enough we could spend together as a family or have our own time. The teens enjoyed the downstairs location with games. Everyone said they slept well and their rooms were comfortable. For future out-of-towners, we had service around the house and Davis area but didn’t have any near Seneca or Dolly Sods (make sure you are not relying only on gps for day trips). If you are a coffee drinker, make sure you pack ground coffee. (I forgot mine and had to run to the store when they opened.) We highly recommend the Cass railroad trip to Bald Knob, the scenic chairlift, and our favorite the natural areas. For food we liked Big Johns Family Fixins Restaurant (hope I remembered the name correctly). Everyone enjoyed their meal, including my picky eater. Overall our stay was exactly what we were hoping for peaceful relaxation! My boys already want to return.

Great Place to Stay!

We are so happy we found this cabin in Timberline! We loved it so much we booked it again for next year. The house is roomy with nice furniture and most of the beds were comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and the fact this house has A/C plus ceiling fans throughout. The yard was nice and level for the kids to play and practice casting their fishing poles. The hammock and fire pit were great as well. Best Of Canaan Realty was awesome when we had to contact them with questions. They offer great customer service. We love the Timberline community and all it has to offer. Privacy, access to two lakes and two ponds and tons of trails for hiking. Even a leisure stroll down the dirt road is relaxing. Plus it is centrally located between two State parks and other attractions like Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks & Smoke Hole Caverns.

Great Stay at Starry Nights! The property is exactly as pictured and described - the perfect getaway to a secluded area close to the outdoors/hiking! The hot tub was amazing (we actually had to turn the temperature down!), and there was a ton of space for us to relax indoors. A few notes to make your stay even better:
+ Be sure to bring everything you could possibly need with you (oil for cooking, salt & pepper, shampoo, etc -- this house doesn't have any of that). Bring sharp kitchen knives if you like to cook.
+ The house is at the end of a gravel road that takes about 10 minutes to drive up, so 4WD is a must in inclement weather
+ It is very inconvenient that you have to wash and start the dryer for towels before check-out. I asked for a late check-out from the staff at Best of Canaan and never heard back from them.
+ Be sure to bring everything you could possibly need with you (oil for cooking, salt & pepper, shampoo, etc -- this house doesn't have any of that). Bring sharp kitchen knives if you like to cook.

Perfect Getaway!

The house was very clean upon arrival. There was plenty of room for a family of 8. A few things that can improve, the bed in the master near the slider needs a new mattress, it is hard as a rock. Also, please be sure the fire wood is refilled. We went a day with out a fire. Overall the stay was wonderful and we will definitely be back again.

Awesome Mountain Getaway
We absolutely loved this house. We came for a long weekend of skiing at Timberline. It was exactly as described. Very clean and stocked with all of the essentials you'd expect. The rental agency was very friendly and responsive. Pickup was quick and easy, even though you have to go to their office to get the key (it's only a few minutes from the cabin). Loved the wood burning fireplace (came with plenty of dry wood) and hot tub after a long day of skiing at Timberline. Really liked how it was tucked back in the woods, felt private and secluded. Our only complaint would be the twin beds, they were very old and uncomfortable, but we didn't end up needing them and all other beds were great. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing Stay

My family really enjoyed staying in this home. We didn’t want to leave. We took advantage of all the amenities. Daily fires in the wood burning fireplace, having the wood supplied was an unexpected plus. Toasting marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit. Staying warm with the gas chimenea on the deck and soaking in the hot tub. Grandkids enjoyed exploring the surrounding woods. Beautiful home in a beautiful location.

We recently spent 4 nights at Starry Nights, and definitely could have stayed longer. The house was very clean, well maintained, and had everything our family of six needed. Second time at this Home with our Large Family

We enjoyed our 2nd year at Starry Nights. We love the location, fireplace and room for everyone. This year it was not very clean. The bathrooms were dirty and cobwebs were excessive. The pull out couch downstairs is awful. It needs replaced for someone to sleep on it. If these things can be fixed we would love to come back. When I shared this with the property manager she looked at me strangely and so did everyone else in the office. She said oh we clean in April (cobwebs). Well last January there were no cobwebs so that doesn’t line up. I did appreciate a later checkout at 12. I just wish the bathrooms were cleaned. The walls also need painted and cleaned.
So glad you returned to visit our mountains and enjoy the beautiful comforts Starry Nights does provide. I am so sorry if we looked surprised at your departure comments. It is just that we rarely hear complaints in regard to cleaning. In full disclosure I was trying to let you know that we do spring cleanings in April that include ladders and extra hands to address high places, fans and of course, cobwebs. Thanks for letting us know that the house has a sleeper sofa. Because the house has an occupancy of 8, and there are beds for 8 people, we have never advertised or perhaps even realized that there is one. **Our message to others reading this is please don't use this information as permission to bring more than 8 people to stay at Starry Nights.

Property was very comfortable and just the right fit for 3 couples.

Family Fun!

Starry Nights
This house has it all! We saw lots of wild life from deer, turkey's, and bear on a daily basis. A great yard, with lots of family space. The house is beautiful and well taken care of. You can tell this house is owned by someone who truly cares and takes pride in it. We will be returning here again!

The Perfect Secluded Get-A-Way

Stunning. Starry Nights is a beautiful house on a private wooded lot. We could barely make out the outline of the cabins around us. Unlike a lot of the properties in Timberline, this is truly a private get-a-way. The interior was well appointed with a comfortable elegance. Decor was minimal, but perfect in that it let the bones of the house speak for themselves. Everything was advertised and more. We had everything we needed to cook and relax at "home" during our stay. The town of Davis is a 20 minute scenic ride where we ate at the restaurants, drank at the breweries and got to know some of the locals. Thomas, is 5 or so minutes from Davis and has an eclectic little strip of shops and galleries. We cannot say enough about the staff at Best of Cannan, they were so very accommodating and withstood our barrage of questions with grace and hospitality. If you are looking for hustle and bustle, don't come here. If you are looking to disconnect for a bit and relax in this gorgeous home, I would highly recommend Starry Nights. Some details: the hot tub is in great condition, the gas chiminea on the deck is a great touch, plenty of kitchenware if you want to cook (which we did), the master is huge with amazing views of nature, deer in the back yard and the like, the fireplace is EVERYTHING, plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing (note it was just the two of us and we did not make use of most of house). Before we left, we were already talking about coming back and renting Starry Nights.

We really enjoyed our stay at Starry Nights. The house and property are beautiful and well maintained. We were impressed with how clean the house was. The house lived up to all of the reviews posted. We enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub and exploring the property. The Spruce Island lake area is beautiful and well maintained. The lake has great fishing and we enjoyed walking around the lake and picnicking. We highly recommend Starry Nights and Best of Canaan. The Best of Canaan staff are very friendly and easy to work with. We enjoyed exploring Canaan Valley and surrounding West VA including hiking the Canaan Valley Wildlife Management areas, Dolly Sods Wilderness, Blackwater Falls State Park and various bike trails. There are so many outdoor activities available in wild wonderful West VA!

Beautiful Home away from home
This house exceeded all expectations. It was very private and secluded, spacious and well equipped. The large yard was great for our toddler grand children to play in without having to worry about their safety. They loved going on hunts for "Bambi", as we saw several each time we would drive in or out of the area. We used the hot tub and the grill often. We even played horse shoes and relaxed in the hammock. A large portion of the week was wet so we didn't get to enjoy the fire pit but hope to get to use it more when we return. It was great having the lower level for our son, daughter and granddaughters to enjoy and there was plenty of room upstairs for everyone to enjoy. Would definitely recommend this property!!

We had a wonderful time catching up with dear friends at this lovely log home. We had hoped to spend more time outdoors hiking and building a campfire, but since the weather was not cooperating, we enjoyed the fireplace, board games, and cooking in the beautiful kitchen. We did get to take advantage of the hot tub and the grill too! Very relaxing getaway!

We had an amazing time. I have been to this community 4 times now and have stayed at different homes each time, i will sure to be staying here next year. I loved the wide open floor plan, 2 living rooms, kitchen being dead center of both living rooms, finished basement with big couch, huge garage to store ski equipment and anything else you bring.. There was hot coco powder at the house and a nice coffee pot which made sitting by the fire even more enjoyable. We loved the outside and the huge yard, there is a fire chumura on the deck along with a grill both ran by GAS, you can light it while in the hot tub and or if you go outside to smoke.. There was also a fire pit in the back yard and a nice area to hang around. The couches are super comfortable you literally can sit there for 2 hours and stare off into the fire and out the window like its only been 20 min. House had plenty of brooms / dust pans to keep the place clean during our stay. Also there was a wood wagon that you use to grab wood from the wood shed and bring inside. This is a dream home for sure. Peaceful setting, huge lot. Thank you to Best of Cannan for always making my vacations to west Virginia a stress free experience.

Starry Nights - Week between Christmas and New Years
The Starry Nights house was beautiful, yet very cozy and comfortable. The house was had a great set up and was very well appointed. We did have a couple of issues with the water supply, which turned out to be a furnace issue that could not be resolved during our stay. Best of Canaan did respond immediately to each call and sent maintenance and a furnace repair person, but, the furnace needs to be replaced. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thanks for taking time to provide us with your feedback. I wanted to let you know that a new furnace was installed at Starry Nights last week. We have no reason to think that the water and heat issues were connected but believe that both have been resolved. Things seem to be working great! We are glad found the house cozy and inviting.

Beautiful, Private Property with Expansive Front and Back Lawns
We booked this property after extensive searching for the perfect vacation home. The house was everything we were looking for and more. It is beautiful inside and out. The lawn is expansive and well manicured and our young children had a great time running freely in the open space and swinging in the hammock. We loved that the house felt quiet and private as it was completely surrounded by trees, yet we were close enough to local attractions and Davis for grocery shopping. We hiked to breathtaking views on the valley view trail which we accessed just minutes from the house inside the gated community. We also drove to Lindy Point and Blackwater Falls lookouts in Blackwater Falls State Park. There were many other attractions in the area as well and we wish we could have stayed longer. Though we had a wonderful stay we had one issue with a musty smell in the basement where two of the bedrooms are located. Since we wanted to sleep on the same floor as our children they were the only bedrooms we were able to use. Also, the oven is under a kitchen counter with electronic controls easily accessible to young children. Our 1 yr old was able to turn the oven on on his own by simply pressing the electronic buttons. If traveling with tots, the oven area may need to be blocked off for safety. Overall, the house is spectacular and is a real gem. We highly recommend!

Luminous Starry Nights & Bright Sunny Days

Our family, which included three generations, enjoyed an exceptional vacation in the home "Starry Nights". The interior and exterior offered spacious and ample space for all the activities we did. The openness and brightness of the home made for a very pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. We have vacationed at this site for three years and hope to return next summer. Our only complaint is that the terrace area has become overgrown and would be much more attractive and have a better view from the deck if it were trimmed and maintained.

The cabin was in a beautiful area and in great shape. Plenty of wood stacked by the door, plenty of dishes, cook ware, towels, etc. This will be a repeat cabin visit for us. This home is lovely. It is beautifully decorated (better than the pictures) and the beds are high quality. It snowed our first night here and it was very cozy to have the fireplace. Thanks for the supply of kindling and wood! We enjoyed the hot tub and the stars did not disappoint. The proximity to Timberline ski resort and hiking at Blackwater Falls is another plus. Starry Nights is truly the Best of Canaan

My husband and I rented this cabin for our 20th Anniversary. This home is the most beautiful and comfortable home that we have ever stayed in! The view was spectacular and the home is far enough out that it is extremely peaceful, the rooms were spacious, the house was spotless, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for all meal types along with grilling utensils and the beds were comfortable.
The fireplace was perfect for the cold evenings but the basement couch was cozy enough for an afternoon nap. The hot tub was an important factor in renting this particular home and the upkeep on it was the best of any that we have been in.
I don't think we could have gotten better customer service. I can not say enough good things about the staff at Best of Canaan. Donna was fantastic and even came and let us in after locking ourselves out at 10:30 at night.
I will be back but with the rest of the family so that they can enjoy it as much as we did.

We had a wonderful Easter Break at Starry Nights. The house is beautiful and was perfect for the four of us. Hot tub was wonderful after a day of fishing. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well-equipped with everything you might need (even had a crockpot!). Lots of space to spread out and get comfortable. One thing to be aware of- if two or more showers are going at the same time, the hot water turns off to the shpwer heads. It will still run at the faucet though. Found that out the hard way! Quite a "wake-up"! House is fairly secluded, not much traffic so you can enjoy the peace and quiet. The staff at Best of Canaan are awesome! We have been renting in that area for over 15 years now, usually 3-4 times a year and can honestly say the Best of Canaan truely is the Best of Canaan!

Private, Beautiful and Comfortable

Our group of 8 adults spent 3 nights at Starry Nights and didn't want to leave! The house was plenty spacious for all us. While the house had a big open feeling, there was plenty of space for different activities to take place. The kitchen was fully stocked with pans, utensils and other kitchen gadgets that made cooking for a crowd very easy. The backyard was very serene and peaceful and equipped with a hot tub, hammock, horse shoes and a ton of fire wood. We can't wait to return!

We have been renting vacation homes for many years. This was the best home we have rented. It felt like a Home not a House. The home was clean, decorated beautifully & a perfect size for our different family members. This is the 2nd time I have rented from Best of Canaan. The ladies in the office r polite & very helpful. The views from the windows where outstanding, the yard is large enough for kids to enjoy & us adults with the horse shoes, hammock & Fire Pit. We enjoyed the Air Hockey table & DVD library. The only complaint (which is small) is...there was not enough kitchen supplies (knives, bowls ect). Plenty of plates, cups & glasses. I can't wait to stay here again. It was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time.

We were quite impressed with "Starry Nights". The location was ideal, level, well-maintained yard, which was great for family outdoor activities. The inside was clean and spacious with plenty of natural light from the enormous windows, and the layout allowed for privacy. The large dining room table was the center of family gatherings for meals and evening board games. When not eating in, we enjoyed the Golden Anchor and Sirianis. We are definely planning on returning again.

Great, Cozy Get Away
This home is beautiful. One look to the sky at night and you know why this place is called Starry Nights. The views from the windows are amazing, especially during a snowstorm which we experienced in March. We spent the days tending to a fire in the fireplace, playing board games and lounging around, just the break this family of 6 needed. The bedrooms in the walkout basement were colder than the rest of the house and the kids (9 and under) felt a little uneasy at night with double glass doors in the basement hallway that have no blinds or curtains. Mom and dad did, too. Would have felt more secure overall with some deadbolts from the inside in addition to the keyed locks. Also, after one short rest in the hot tub, I broke out in a rash all over my arms and legs which lasted for days. This has never happened to me before. Regrettably, I never got back in the hot tub because of this. It would have been a beautiful place to be under the stars and snowfall. Upon checkout, I mentioned this to the management who said the hot tubs are treated with bromine. Find out if you are sensitive to that before stepping in the hot tub. The only reason I didn't give five stars all around is because of the hot tub. It is a huge selling feature and I was bummed that I couldn't spend more time in it.

Starry Night Getaway

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Starry Night and appreciated the friendly and efficient staff of Best of Canaan! This was our first visit to West Virginia and it was a wonderful getaway. One of our favorite things about the property was its seclusiveness and privacy. The house was well maintained and furnished and provided everything we could possibly need. Our only complaint was that over our 5 day visit, there were two occasions in which workers drove onto the property to deliver stone and mulch without notifying us. It was rather unsettling being 5 women alone with random people arriving on the property and us not knowing. Other than that we loved our stay and can't wait to come back! We will definitely go through Best of Canaan for sure!

Great Place to Stay!

Wish we had planned to stay longer! The cabin was clean and very spacious. The fireplace (and starter logs- thank you!) was a family favorite and the massive windows made for some truly amazing views of all the snow. Hot tub was a huge hit with all the adults, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you for the wonderful vacation!

A Five Star Experience

Starry Nights is in a great setting. Hardly any traffic on Bobcat Road and great privacy. Huge back and front yard. Enjoyed the hot tub and chiminea on a nightly basis. Wildlife in the yard on a daily basis. The house is very well decorated and maintained. The water pressure is not the best in the showers but this was the only flaw, and one we could deal with. Plenty of room to roam. We can't wait to return again next year! Highly recommend this beautiful house. As always the staff at Best Of Canaan, especially Donna, is simply the best! They are great to deal with every year! Thank you to the owners of Starry Nights for opening up their beautiful home to our family.

This home was beautifully designed and maintained. It had a spacious living area with full window views that allowed you to enjoy the out-of-doors even while inside. Clean, wonderful deco, and comfort. Easy access to the Lakeview and Spruce Tree hiking trails and canoeing activities. Only limitation we found was that the water pressure in showers and sinks was low. We would definitely return in the future for another stay at this property. Thank you!
