Big or Little this Bear is sure to become a family vacation favorite.
Goldilocks would love this place! All that’s missing is Mama Bear, but I am sure you will be bringing her along. Big Bear/Little Bear features 8 bedrooms! Six bedrooms in the main house and two more in the nearby apartment, create sleeping space for 24 happy campers! Of course, this won’t feel at all like camping. With two kitchens, one large and one small, meals are sure to be a wonderful opportunity to share stories about today and develop plans for tomorrow. At some point, rest will be required. No problem. You can unwind with a favorite TV show, play a game of cards, or shoot a game of pool. Rest and get ready! Winter visitors will love the short walk to Timberline Mountain’s Dew Drop Trail. In every season Big Bear/Little Bear provides easy access to hiking and biking trails. It is a short drive to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Resort, Seneca Rocks and more. I know you are going to want to come back again and again.

Good home for a secluded getaway

We held a sibling reunion in August and found this home to be good for us. The kitchen is well stocked. We would have used the gas grill more if there had been more propane in the tank, or the extra tank had not been empty. We spent most of our time on the back deck. The outdoor fireplace would have been great also, if it had been functioning. Knowing the home is mostly used for winter rental, we overlooked the worn wood floors and well stained carpets. The chairs around the dining table were unglued making them rickety and a fall risk. None the less, some general maintenance is needed.
Thank you Kim for your review of Big Bear Little Bear. We wish you would have let of know about the propane tanks and we could have had maintenance bring some new ones, so we apologize for that. We will let the owners know of your concerns and suggestions. We hope you come back to see us again!

Perfect Vacation

Seamless rentel experience. Helpful staff, easy to do business with. The house was amazing, perfect for all our friends and family. The weather was terrible, but we still got in some great skiing. House was a spacious and warm refuge from the weather.

Great getaway ski spot!

Love the mountains
We had a great family vacation. Your staff was great ,friendly, courteous and helpful. We were happy with the house although the outside needs to be spruced up as furniture and boards (splinters) and the oven was terrible (door was heavy and slammed down and dirty)

Amazing Property!!!

We gathered 21 family members (three generations) to celebrate our father's 80th birthday. Big Bear Little Bear was absolutely perfect for our needs. We had plenty of space for everyone to spread out or gather together. Everyone loved the property and there was plenty of parking. The cabin is surrounded by trees, so it feels very private and peaceful, but it was a short drive to the town of Davis and Blackwater Falls State Park. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. We did a lot of cooking and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Having the separate apartment was much appreciated by my brother and sister-in-law when it was naptime for their 21-month-old son. We had an amazing time and hated to leave. Additionally, the rental agency was wonderful and the entire area is beautiful. Great experience!

Family Vacation

The layout of the two buildings were perfect for our family. Each family had their own space and yet there was plenty of room for all of us to be together. The deck was large but needs a lot of TLC right now. The cleaning crew didn't pay much attention to details so some things were not as clean as should be. I would recommend this place, especially for large families. Hopefully we will go back.

Family Reunion 2024

Big Bear/Little Bear was the perfect place for our extended family of 24! The photographs on the website looked exactly like the house. No surprises. The only part of the whole house that didn’t look good was the deck, furniture, and railings, which looked pretty rough and weathered. Everything in the house was clean and tidy with plenty of linens for everyone. There was space for little kids to nap, older kids to play games in the basement or rollerblade in the large garage, and adults to sit on the deck or in the hot tub all at the same time. We even all fit in the living room to play games together at night!
The kitchen was fully stocked with more than we needed, and there was space for everyone to eat inside or out. I also loved that every floor had a bathroom for use besides the one in the master suites, so no one had to stand in line.
The staff was very responsive to every question and request that I had.
A couple doors down from their office is Mamma Mia’s where we ordered yummy Italian food for takeout one night. We also loved playing miniature golf and Almost Heaven Miniature Golf in town. We left so many things in the house and places in the town untried. We just didn’t have time for everything. I just hope that we can find a place this perfect for our next reunion, or I’d be just as happy to come back here again!

Wonderful Thanksgiving Stay
The location was beautiful-views from the expansive decks were amazing and we had the perfect amount of privacy. Our party of 20 had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. The rain showerhead in the first floor full bathroom was a treat, we had everything needed (and more) in the kitchen to prepare Thanksgiving dinner, and the cart in the garage made loading and unloading the cars much easier! Canaan never disappoints and this home provided the backdrop for a wonderful family getaway where many memories were made.
What a great family get together! We hope to have you back next year. Happy Holidays!

Worth a return visit!

The properties were perfect for our large group, especially having two kitchen areas for food storage and preparation. We had all the amenities needed for the week, and the management office had excellent communication. There were a few dusty areas, and the carpeting was badly stained, but otherwise we found it clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've put Big Bear/Little Bear on our vacation rotation list.

Great location for a family vacation

These houses were great for our group of 9 adults and 7 kids. We had room to spare! Both houses were well equipped - Big Bear had two fridges, two dishwashers and two washer/dryers so there was plenty of room for food/drinks. Overall the property was well maintained, with only a few minor issues here and there. There was seating for 8 at the main time, with a counter for 4 behind and a smaller 3-4 seat table in the same area, so lots of room to eat and talk. Having trash pickup as needed was a bonus so it didn’t all accumulate during the stay. The only downside was the very small lot - there was no flat surface for outdoor activities like volleyball/badminton; however, there is a park in Davis about 20 minutes away that worked well. Groceries were also in that area, and both Davis and Thomas were very quaint towns with local shops for browsing. Black water falls is a short trip away and had nice trails, as did the other parks nearby - we only had time to do a small sampling but they were great!

Big Family getaway

What an awesome time everyone had! The weather didn't really cooperate and because of the amenities, we still had a great time. Our family ranged from 18 months to 80 years old, and not one person had a complaint, except of course we had to leave. Would recommend 100 times over...

Fantastic vacation rental
Vacationed with a multi-generational family group, 13 people in all. Big Bear/Little Bear easily accommodated us all. Very well stocked kitchen (could use a few more coffee mugs). Would happily return.

Great family reunion location
What a wonderful stay we, a family of 18, had at "Big Bear, Little Bear” home rental in Davis, WV. It was very clean from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas to the Hot Tub. Furnishings in living areas and bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The main dining table hosted many meals but the nightly card games were the best. Quick response to an empty propane tank saved our dinner plans, THANKS! Kitchen (Wolf stove)and game rooms(ping pong hit with grandkids) were well supplied. Outdoor areas very private, trees all around the property, great sitting areas to relax one with a gas fireplace another a hot tub. Yes we will come back to this wonderful home rental!

Great house; comfortable
We were very comfortable at Big Bear and Little Bear. Hot tub was popular and we would have loved the outdoor fireplace if weather had been a littel bit warmer. House gets loud at night because basement doesn't have door, but that's the peril of traveling with a big group :). House is not slopeside, which is fine when there is alot of snow everywhere but otherwise you have to walk the road and the trail through the woods. Lots of parking which is awesome. Loved the gates on the deck too.
