Good place to stay temporarily for the nights our other cabin guy was booked. Kitchen well stocked with lots of places to put groceries. Best of Canaan staff were so helpful to find this for us.

Nice family ski trip

Nice house with a few glitches. The downstairs TV had no remote and could not be used. The hot tub took a very long time to warm up but did eventually. Spots on the couch were not clean, but overall an ok experience.

We had a great stay at Craig’s Cherry Woods. The house is spacious and comfortable. The back deck provides a lovely setting for dinner, or just relaxing. The built-in hot tub is a nice feature. The location provides easy access to most Canaan Valley sites.

Our stay was wonderful. This was our third summer vacation in Canaan Valley and our accommodations were excellent. The rental unit was very clean. The staff was very cordial and responded to our requests on a very timely manner.

Amazing getaway!
Here’s how you know the house and amenities were top notch- you spend a lot of time in there due to rain! Seriously, rained the entire time we were there. Spent one day on the slopes and one day in town, lots of time in the house. Small hot tub that cools quickly but we boiled water and just kept refilling to keep it hot. Everyone slept comfortably in all the beds and plenty of towels for the hot tub and showers! I’d suggest bringing extra paper towels, we only had one roll and used them quickly. Great stay, will be back!

Perfect!

Great location - minutes from timberline, 10 minutes to Canaan valley ski slopes and ski white grass! Great spot. Great accommodations, open floor plan, gas fireplace, half-hot tub, really everything you need. If you need your downhill gear worked on or rentals go to driftland in Davis and talk to Ian!!

Best of Canaan Get Away

My fiancee and I, along with our two friends, just needed to get out of our hometown for a few days, and this was the perfect place to come! The house was big enough for everyone to spread out, while not feeling too large or overwhelming. The hot tub, grill, and deck area were perfect! Neighbors were close by, but you honestly couldn't even tell they were there most of the time. For a get away, it was perfect. However, if you are looking to be close to a lot of shops, restaurants, etc. this is not the location for you.

Hiking Trip with Friends
This home is in a convenient location for hiking, between Dolly Sods, Canaan Valley State Park, and Blackwater Falls. We enjoyed seeing all of them. The house suited our needs perfectly. It was clean and everything was in working order. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub after hiking and the fireplace on the chilly nights.

Great house with everythibg we needed

Myself and some friends rented this house from Thursday till Sunday. We used this as a jumping off point to hike Dolly Sods, Shenandoah, Timberline, and Blackriver Falls. The house was well equipped, with the kitchen having most items (only one baking sheet could be found), the hot tub was in good shape, and the house overall was clean and cozy. The grill and deck area was especially good- the grill has a hard gas line and the deck area is quite large here. The house is pretty private, and though we were there when there was no snow, the house is likely walking distance to the slopes.

30 days at Craig’s Cherrywood
From the minute we walked into the house we felt at home. It was well furnished with everything we needed and very clean. Loved being close to Canaan Lodge and Davis. Great places to walk and the lake was a big attraction. Rental staff was friendly, professional and efficient.

Great Space

We had a couple families from our church and we stayed for skiing. It is very convenient for skiing. While not in walking distance (unless you are a sicko that wants to make a major hike in ski boots), it is not too far from the parking area. It was well maintained and clean.

Ski vacation minus snow
The house overall was in great shape and great for our family...we only left for a couple hours over the whole weekend due to horrible ski conditions. It was in a great location, and comfortable. We love to cook when we are on vacation, and that was the only problem we encountered. The amount of pot and pan (there was more than one, but barely) was lacking and made cooking for the family challenging. On the bright side, it allowed us to become creative and spend more time together anyway, so basically a win. I would definitely stay here again, I will just bring a couple pans with me ?. Great property.

Nice house near the ski slopes

We rented the house for 4 days for New Year Eve. It is located very close to the slopes (~10 min walk, ~2 min by car).
It was well maintained and clean. The hot tube is small, but it is fine for 4 kids or 2 adults.
The area has a lot of activities (winter and summer).

Family Reunion

Craig's Cherry Wood was a lovely home!!! It was very clean and welcoming. My only suggestion would be to beef up the kitchen items. Measuring spoons, additional cookie sheet, large stock pot, and a meat platter. Only other suggestion would be to have a blanket available to all bedrooms because it got cold Saturday night. These things I mention are trivial, I would most defiently stay her again. Best of Canaan was wonderful to work with!!!

We would stay here again

We had two families stay here for a ski weekend in February 2015. Each family had two young kids, so the bunk beds for the boys and the full size bed for the girls worked out well. We never felt cramped in the house.
The location was perfect for skiing at Timberline and Canaan Valley.
The house seemed to be in good shape, though we had an issue with the plumbing that required a quick search for the plunger. Also, one of the mattresses was wrapped in plastic, which made the bed a bit loud and less comfortable.
We cooked several meals in the kitchen and the large table in the eat-in kitchen seated everyone well.
The management staff was kind enough to run up a can opener after a through search turned up no tools to open a can. The check-in and out process was a breeze.

There are waterproof covers on the mattress, which don't breath well, so if you sleep hot, beware. The beds were very comfy, though.
The hottub was clean, but the walls could use a good scrubbing to remove the hard water buildup.

Late season ski weekend
Kudos to Best of Canaan staff. The property was ready early, which worked out perfectly to unload the car before a sunny Thursday afternoon of skiing. This unit is a two minute drive from Timberline skiing. All appliances and equipment worked sufficient. Unit was clean and easy to access. Four adults and 3 children were very comfortable.

Great stay

This place was super good for 2 families with kids. The home is quite cozy and we would definitely come back. The price was right, and even a bit of a bargain for what you get (we've stayed in many places in Canaan!)
The only thing I didn't like was that the hot tub was rather small but functional for 3 people. The fireplace was Gas (not wood), which is going to be a plus for some people, but it wasn't my thing because I like to chop me some wood when i'm on vacation in the mountains. These are overall minor issues compared with other places we've stayed.

A Beautiful Long Weekend at Canaan

We had a wonderful family reunion, just steps from Timberline where the kids enjoyed a day of skiing. With Canaan just a few miles away, they experienced another ski area with well-groomed snow on the second day. Our rental home was so conveniently located and very well furnished. The hot tub was a big plus. We found lots to do in nearby Davis and took long hikes in the Whitegrass area. On our fourth day we woke up to snow. Who could ask for more!

Stayed here before, stay was great, nice quiet location. Nice to have some air conditioning when needed. The bedding is starting to show its age as the comfort was not quite as good as the last stay 2 years ago. Still a nice place to stay.
