I read that the name Marrakech originates from Berber words that mean “Land of God”. Add in the fact that the house is located in beautiful Canaan Valley in “Almost Heaven West Virginia” and you have a darn good idea of what you are looking at here. Lovely Marrakech is lakeside on Timberline’s Sand Run Lake where nature is naturally abundant! The considerate homeowners have thought of everything to make your vacation a special experience by providing a canoe for use on the lake as well as a hot tub and horseshoe pits for even more outdoor fun. Step inside and prepare to be comfortable. In just a day you can enjoy an incredible view while relaxing by the fireplace. Shoot pool and play foosball in the downstairs game room. There is still time for a movie or to prepare your favorite meal in the nicely appointed kitchen. Marrakech where there is so much to do or do nothing at all. It is sure to be everyone’s favorite vacation! Four and all-wheel drive vehicles required for winter access.

A wonderful get away
Marrakech is a great place for friends to spend quality time in a quality space. The house is roomy and has a game room and outdoor hot tub which is a great place to relax after hiking the beautiful surrounding mountains. We found many new shops in Davis and Thomas. Listening to some great music and purchased some lovely art to remind us of our time here.

Marrakech is the Best

I cant say enough about this house and its management team "Best of Canaan." They are the best! Here are just a few reasons we'll be back 1) The location is stunning, views of the lake and foothills. 2) easy access to the lake, canoes and the miles on manicured paths around 2 lakes 3) nice hot tub and game room 4) a beautiful "well equipped" kitchen and 5) plenty of technology / football screens (haha). We can't wait to return!!

2/10 but thankfully only had 6 guests
This house was a gorgeous setting, great yard, and canoeing was a very easy location to get the boats in and out of the lake. 1/3 of the rental company employees was very unfriendly and somehow condescending. Perhaps me interrupting her cigarette break was a major inconvenience. The other 2 I interacted with were very kind and hopefully will help tell the homeowner about the moldy basement smell.
The basement is not usable to sleep in unless you have all the windows open for a whole day and the whole time overnight. It smells of mold and is humid even with their little dehumidifier trying to work. If my children stayed here, I would not want them sleeping in the trundle bedroom because of the horrible air quality.
This house would be a phenomenal option if they installed central air to get the horrible moisture problem solved in the basement! We wouldn't have used the AC for temperature, but for humidity lowering I think it's the only hope for that humid basement. If you only have guests that can share the 4 beds upstairs, it is still a good option.

Another great family gathering

Our sixth year at Marrakech makes it obvious how pleased we are with it. Management company ( Best of Canaan) does a great job .Property is well maintained and clean. Its location is literally at the end of the road allowing much privacy. Large living area perfect for our family. Outside deck great for lunch and dinner gatherings. Kids enjoyed canoeing on lake and exploring wooded areas. We are already booked for next year.

Family Getaway

We are a family of 2 Grandparents, myself and my husband, 3 grown Kids and 3 Grandkids and this house was Perfect for Us!! The location on the lake was easy access for the guys to fish! Even though it poured the snow on us!! It didn't stop them! LOL! And the hot tub was super nice to relax in, especially because it was so cold and snowy. Inside there was plenty to do too! We all enjoyed the pool table and fooseball table. And they're stocked with all kinds of games and puzzles. The kitchen was loaded with everything you could possibly need and there were tons of towels and extra blankets and

Relax,refresh and repeat!
We have been staying at Marrakech for so many years with 2 of our dearest friends. We love it! The walks along the lake, lunches on the deck, hot tub in the evening. The kitchen is fully equipped and updated! Bedrooms are comfy and cozy. Fireplace on,TV on ,glass of wine... perfect relaxation! Best of Canaan Realty is wonderful to work with!����

Great House and Location
This house is very clean and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook with. The great room is sunken so you have to step down which can be tricky if you are not use to that, mainly for older people. The location is wonderful the only thing I wish the owners would do is trim the branches on the pine trees so you can see the lake view better.

Peaceful small issues

This house was perfect for the Easter holiday with family we had dreamed. Some items were concerning for us. The bathroom had some items left in the shower from previous renters, used bars of soap. Sheets on one of the bed had tears in them. Also for the canoe on property that was supposed to be able to use no oar was anywhere to be located. Overall experience was great for a family get away to the mountains though.

Family and Friends Fall Vacay

Always a great time!

Our anmual gals trip was great as always. A terrific place to unwind and forget all the daily hassles. This year the trees cooperated and gave us beautiful color to view from the deck and while enjoying the outdoor hot tub. We have already reservec our spot for next year and can't wait to visit.

Easy check in and checkout process. Well stocked kitchen. Property was clean but would be nice to have a mop. Property could use some new pots/pans The availability of canoes and life vests is a great amenity. Fishing was good. Make sure to visit the new restaurant Mamma Mias- excellent food

Great House Great Location

We had a great time in this house. There's plenty to do, board games, pool table, Foosball, fishing, etc. The canoes were a lot of fun, especially convenient with life vests and paddles being there too. We had a minor hot tub problem that was remedied just a few hours after calling management. The house was clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. Overall a great experience all around.

Our family of 12 including 6 children between the ages of 4 months-8 years old spent a week at the Marrakech. It is a beautiful property and home. The check in and out process was incredibly easy and the house was well stocked with plenty of space for all of us to enjoy. All of the wildlife including deer, bald eagles, beavers, and numerous other birds, was so nice to see. Would highly recommend.

A great place to catch up with friends

My friends and I have been coming to Canaan for 30 years. We come from 7 states and it is the only time we all get together. We enjoy all the valley has to offer. Walks, hot tubbing, canoeing, leaf looking, bird watching and local shopping. We enjoy this house because of the location to trails and the lake. It is spacious enough that we aren't tripping over each over but you can still get away for total down time.

Great place
This our third stay here and definitely will be back. It is roomy, well equipped and has amazing views. We enjoyed hiking, canoeing, fishing and evenings by the campfire. The game room was a hit with the younger visitors. Our only glitch was running out of propane for the grill midway through cooking dinner and not having a spare in the garage as described. One was delivered the next am. My only suggestions would be to have a cleaner vacumn and a mop available. Also missed having the second mini frig in the basement as previously had.

The Road to Marrakech

This is our 3rd year to stay at Marrakech for our Spring Fling. Eight guys who went to college in the mid 70's and still know how to enjoy life and each other's company. Golf, fishing, hiking, biking, Euchre, along with great music, fine food and a well stocked bar. Marrakech is the perfect getaway for us from Pittsburgh and eastern Maryland. Marrakech was extremely clean, fully equipped and well maintained. We will be back next year. Just a few constructive criticisms, ice maker in frig needs repaired and overhead ceiling fans in great room do not function properly. Otherwise, a great place to get away from it all in beautiful Canaan Valley.

We loved the house, beautiful view of the lake. The location is very private with trails close to it. The kitchen was the best stocked of any place we have stayed. We would stay again, maybe in the warmer months so we could boat on the lake.

Marrakech - Great Weekend Vacation Home

This was our 2nd year at Marrakech. Last year we were there in early May, but had to switch to mid August this year due to the pandemic. We had 8 guys who are college roommates and fraternity brothers from the 1970's. Marrakech provides the perfect getaway for all of us with great amenities to fully entertain us along with the beauty of Canaan, golf, hiking, kayaking, fishing, etc. Lots of food and beverages along with a visit from the Doctor provided a great weekend for all. Already looking forward to 2021. H2P!

Another memorable stay

Our family has vacationed for many years in Canaan Valley . The house we rented for 10+ years was not being maintained so in 2019 we tried out Marrakech. What a nice house! We returned in 2020 and found it to be such a great place for family .. canoeing on the lake is just steps away as is an area to play soccer. Five bedrooms also come in handy . Rating: 5+.

The best summer getaway from the DMV

I can't speak highly enough about the Marrakech! The property was incredible, close to a beautiful little lake, fully equipped with canoes and a paddle boat for a fun time on the water. The accommodations were nearly impeccable, apart from a broken bench in the outdoor seating area that seemed like normal wear and tear. The house itself is beautiful, with big open windows that open up to the lake below.
The house is within a short driving distance from Blackwater Falls State Park and Dolly Sods--both incredible hiking and natural beauty destinations. Highly recommend to any group looking for a nice, relaxing weekend outside of D.C.

Spectacular retreat

We rented this for a long ski weekend, and despite little snow in the region we had a wonderful time thanks largely to the great house. One small issue arose with the gas fireplace that was fixed very promptly by the management company. The kitchen is far and away the best stocked with tools and cookware of any rental home we have ever stayed, and the neighborhood is friendly and fun. There is light hiking right from the door and easy access to skiing, parks, and other recreation. We loved it and we will be back.

Comfort and beauty meet in this well equipped home.

Marrakech is an upscale, beautiful rental with the comforts of home. The kitchen was the best stalked of pans and tools than any we have stayed in. There were nice, soft towels and linens; and pillows galore. Extra fans and life jackets of all sizes were available. Between the horseshoes, canoes, and game room their is always something to do without having to leave. And there is great fire pit and chairs right there for the evenings. There isn't a very big view of the lake from the home itself, but it is conveniently right by it and easy to get to. This rental is one of the top on our list!

Family Vacation

Had a weeklong multi-family gathering and were happy that the accommodations fit us perfectly. Enjoyed utilizing the canoe, but please be aware that although this is advertised as a lakefront property, swimming is prohibited. We also found that the couch had not been vacuumed under for quite sometime as there was food and game pieces that were found which we cleaned ourselves. Overall though, I would recommend this as a great place for family gatherings.

It was spectacular! Every room was wonderful! The floor plan and hominess was perfect! The kitchen was so well thought out and stocked with everything you need to make it your own and cook like home. The jacuzzi is amazing and the fire pit provides for great family time. Our memories will last us forever and we can’t wait to return to our almost heaven vacay! It truly was the best time ever and we are very grateful to the rental management who helped guide us Californians to a first time destination in Davis, WV.
