Get away to a quiet haven!

Great views and large space ! Place was well kept.Great when you want to clear your mind and be in a quiet place! Top and bottom floors were huge. Jacuzzi was great! The only thing that was not working was the dishwasher. The last day we were there we tried to use it but it was not working. All dishes had to be washed by hand. Other than that everything was great ��. I would recommend it to anyone looking to wind down and hang out away from the city life.

Amazing WV Mountain Stay

On the Rocks was a beatufiul home with amazing views, and plenty of room for 13 people (adults+kids). Kids were able to play games and watch movies downstairs, while adults made food, or just relaxed and took in the view upstairs. With this many people - the 4 bathrooms and 4 showers was a great amenity for getting everyone out the door. The home was very clean, firewood stocked, plenty of cleaning supplies, LOTS of storage for snacks, food, and even a cute beverage room. 2 sets of washer/dryers allowed us to easily clean towels or snow clothes to use the next day. Would definitely rent this house again - and recommend it to people with larger groups! Very Cozy, clean and relaxing.

Lovely home for a ski weekend

This is our second year staying in this home. It’s perfect for three families with two kids each, and the hot tub was a great bonus. We did need four wheel drives as it was a very snowy weekend.

Amazing!
There was a total of 9 of us that stayed in this house, 4 adults and 5 kids...there was plenty of sleeping space and space for the kids to play and for the adults to relax. The view was phenomenal and we enjoyed sipping our coffee on the deck each morning as the sun rose over the mountains. The house was incredibly clean and up to date. We would definitely stay here again!

Almost Heaven

We had a wonderful experience at On the rocks.
Summer trip with family members. House is high on the mountain with beautiful view of Canaan Valley from deck. House was very clean, and kitchen well equipped.Hiking trailheads to dolly sods wilderness within walking distance. House located within a period in is in a gated ski area community. There were some fishing ponds that were accessible. Location is great for outdoor activity, 10 minutes to Canaan valley resort area, 20 minutes to Blackwater falls and town of Davis.

Fantastic Winter Ski House

This house was perfect for three families to use as a ski trip base. It was well stocked, had a nice layout with two separate larger hang out areas, and the views were lovely. We enjoyed the hot tub very much as well! You definitely need a four wheel drive, but they said as much in the listing. There is a parking lot at the base where we left an extra car and we shuttles the non-four wheel drive friends up the mountain. We have already booked it again for next winter.

Family Ski Weekend

Took our family and a few stragglers for a quick ski vacation to Timberline in WVa.
House was great - certainly large enough to handle our group of twelve. Well-appointed, but not overly fancy so you felt like you could live a little.
Wood burning fireplace in the great room was great, especially nice was the box next to the fireplace filled with wood.
My only cautionary note would be to make sure you have four-wheel drive if staying here in the winter. I didn't read the description closely, and one of our vehicles was only front-wheel drive - did not make it up the relatively steep driveway after a light snow. That being said, we were able to call for a tow the next morning and a nice gentlemen came and pulled us out, AND plowed the driveway for us at no charge. (We did give him a pretty good tip.)
All in all - a great place. Highly recommend it.

Our Home Away from Home

This was our fourth or fifth stay at Skibo, now called On the Rocks, in the last 10 years, and we can hardly imagine staying anywhere else. Everyone in our family — kids and adults — loves this house, with its incredible views and easy access to Dolly Sods, some of the best hiking anywhere. Best of Canaan also is always good to work with; we have used them for other houses in the past. We love Canaan Valley and know we will be back!

Anniversary Getaway
We have rented in Timberline for many years. This was our second time staying at "On the Rocks" and I think it is our favorite house. Both years the home has been clean, well maintained, and had all the amenities we've needed. We absolutely love the hot tub, the amazing views from the upper deck, and the overall cozy feel and relaxation "On the Rocks" provides. The access and convenience to the Sods is what initially drew us to this house. The charm and memories we've made will keep us coming back.

Great House and Location
As I write this review the heat index is about 105 degrees in Charleston, WV. Just a few days ago at On the Rocks, the high temps were in the 70s and the hot tub was awesome -- it's great to be on top of the mountain. This house is laid out great for two families with kids, and it's an easy walk from the house right into Dolly Sods. The furniture, kitchen gear, etc. were all in very good shape. The only issue with this house is the internet -- it appears to be just a DSL line through Frontier. So it's probably not a great choice if you need to take Zoom calls during your vacation or want to stream alot of digital content.
Thank you for your great review of On The Rocks! I am sure this information will help future renters out tremendously. We loved having you here in Canaan Valley and hope to have you back soon before you have a heat stroke in Charleston! lol

Christmas getaway
My family had a delightful stay at the "On The Rocks" property Christmas week. The house was so much more than advertised--spacious rooms, a kitchen that any chef (we have 3 in our clan!) would be thrilled with, 2 great gathering areas for games and such all a beautiful location! We didn't have snow, but the sledding, hiking and ice skating areas were close by and lots of fun.
We would certainly consider renting this house again.
