Great weekend with family and friends skiing in Timberline

House was clean and everything in good working order. The floorpan works well for larger groups with plenty of sleeping space for kids in basement and loft. It is a short drive to the ski lodge, or walkable if parking is an issue.

Lots of beds

This was our 3rd year in this rental. We love all the extra room for our big family ski trip. The location is within walking distance to the lodge. We can also access the slips from here.
The house is showing its age and can use some repairs.

Good Stay at Great Escape

The location is easy to access existing trails and numerous venues in CV. It is a large accommodating cabin with and plenty of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. There were 12 individual beds and none were bunk beds. Several of the mattresses may need to be replaced as well as some of the kitchen cookware but didn't impact our enjoying the property.

The Great Escape

Very nice, spacious, and convenient home.
Very often parking is a problem for over 3 vehicles, but this home could park 5 vehicles without a problem. hot tub was nice, and outside grill was piped directly to gas. Hot water heater was behind locked door, but seemed to be on demand, so hot water was endless.
We have been coming to this area for family reunions for many years, and this was one of the best places we have stayed. Thank you very much for sharing your home!

Fantastic house for family get away

We rented this house for a long weekend of skiing. It's very convenient to the slopes and the ski room in the basement worked out great to store everything. We had 3 families here with kids and there was plenty of space to spread out. The only negative was the tv in the was missing the extension cord, so it didn't work. We will look at booking this house in the future.

Snowless Week

Wonderful week but not much skiing due to the weather. We did enjoy the local sights including a visit to a meadery, winery,FairFax Stone, Black Water Falls, and some downtown shopping.

Friends ski-cation

The home was great of our group! Four families had plenty of space to relax together and separately. The kitchen was a good size and had many tools, spices, coffee and everyday items that helped us make our meals. Having 4 full bathrooms was great too! The hot tub was used and enjoyed by the adults. The location was great for our skiers/boarders! The downstairs exterior door and mud room was perfect to contain the wet boots and clothes instead of tracking it all in upstairs. Our group hopes to stay there again in the future.

Great for a crowd

Good family getaway for skiing

Spacious house with ample sleeping space. 200 ft. walk to Winterset slope made it easy to stop by the house for lunch while skiing. Hot tub was in perfect working order. Basement entry room on the rear of the house was perfect for entry/exit to/from skiing. The only improvement would be to renew some of the mattresses. Some are new and in good condition while others are older and saggy. Overall the house was a good choice.

Truly a Great Escape

The house was clean and very spacious. The couches were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything necessary to make dinner. There were no issues during my stay. The location is great for exploring the local area, like Dolly Sods and Spruce Knob. The area itself is quiet and secluded on the corner. I would definitely recommend this house for a nice summer getaway.

Resetting with Gaia

The Great Escape was a beautiful house, it may not look as such from outside but once you get in is enchanting. The big glass windows allow the light to shine in and one can contemplate nature from the comfort of their reclanible chairs. At night you can see the starts and moon through your window giving you the sensation that you are outside.
The only thing I found unpleasant was the noise of some neighbors. Quiet time is at 11, however there were people that did not respect this rule and if you are outside you can hear their noises and no one came to implement this rule. The noise takes away from the natural sounds surrounding you while you having a fire outside. Once inside I did not hear the noises.

Nice, Spacious House

After having two previous reservations cancel, I was pleased to find this home. It was big enough for our group of 13, with plenty of bedrooms. We were able to visit Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, Dolly Sods, Spruce Knob, and several other places, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for a great weekend!

Golf Trip

Noticed a few minor damages (cosmetic) but otherwise easily accommodated the crew. Didn't spend much time there as we played golf all day long most days. would definitely recommend for a group of golfers of 10 or less.

We had a great escape

The house was pleasantly spacious. We had three families of four, and everybody had a comfortable place to sleep.
The house had everything we needed.
The hot tub had a few challenges, but that seems to common theme when renting ski houses.
We were definitely choose to stay here again.

Thanksgiving at the Great Escape

The house was amazing!! The small kitchen appliances need to be replaced. There were several appliances that did not work, which made cooking very inconvenient. There was not enough garbage bags, laundry soap or dish soap.
So glad you loved the house! We are working on getting the appliances in tip top shape and so sorry about the lack of a few things. We hope you will come back and stay with us! Next time just give us a call and we would be happy to replace any items you need and work on anything that needs fixed during your stay!

The Cabin of Joy.

We arrived early and the cabin was cleaned so we got in early. A + for that!!! Easter weekend

The house is comfortable and well equipped. We liked the location and that all the bathrooms had walk in showers. My elderly parents were with us and the layout of the house worked for us. The front steps need a handrail for easy access Beds really are squeaky but comfortable. We stayed 6 days and had a great time!

ThanksGiving Weekend

Beautiful House and we had a wonderful stay
The House badly needs some minor maintenance though as fireplaces (2) did not work, lightbulbs missing, downstairs freezing, no signage outside so very hard to find BUT a lovely lovely house and we would stay there again.
Just a note to let you know that our maintenance department replaced a number of light bulbs in the they are available to do that 7 days a week. They also report that both of the fireplaces are in working order. We apologize if the downstairs rooms seemed cold but again, a maintenance person is only a phone call away. Thanks for sharing your concerns.

Awesome retreat!

This was the perfect place for our small family reunion! It was clean and comfortable, and there was lots of space to spread out. The open concept downstairs made eating and hanging out together easy and the hot-tub and porch were wonderful. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown Davis for stores/entertainment and there were lots of fun outdoors things to do!

Great Stay!!!!

We stayed for a week at this lovely house! My family met here from many different areas and it was the best time! The house layout was perfect!! Numerous sleeping areas were great! Kitchen was well stocked! The only issues were a few maintenance issues but they didn’t impact our stay! Canaan Valley is a beautiful, serene place that I wish everyone would discover and enjoy!

This place has seen better days

We’ve stayed in Winterset for 15+ years and even stayed at this property in the past. Let me just say that it hasn’t aged gracefully. The beds are uncomfortable, and the basement smelled musty. The kids who stayed in the basement bedrooms got sick. While not completely the fault of BoC, ownership needs to step up and take care of this house. It was really sad to see.

Great Thanksgiving with friends

The cabin overall was satisfactory, great location, plenty of room for our group of 12 (8 adults and 4 children). It is bigger than it looks from the outside. It has everything you might need, grill, jacuzzi (we did not use), kitchen well equipped, etc. The check in/ check out, no problem, reservation process was pretty straightforward. Now a few things were I think the management can improve. The furniture seems like it needs an upgrade. One chair was broken, same for the railing on one of the bunk beds. The beds were uncomfortable, squeaky. Bring your own pillows (I never do and regretted it this time). Bathrooms have only a couple of soap bars, so bring toiletries (which is fine, but good to know by others). The master bedroom had a funky smell that persisted for the entire time. We thought it might have been from drains in the bathroom, but even after running the water, no change. Also the bedding in the master bedroom did not look clean. Luckily I found some clean ones in the basement. The master bedroom faces sun so you better be a morning person, cause sun it on you through the high windows. Kitchen had everything, but we could not find a cutting board anywhere. That would be good to have, since we prepared all our meals. Couches, TV, all good. It would be good to have a larger dining table considering this cabin can host so many people. One other thing - there was nongarbage bin outside, so we had to keep trash bags on the deck and bring them in inside at night. But this might be true for the entire subdivision. I have it a 4 star because we had a great time we our friends, and that is what matters.

Wonderful timeaway

The house was beautiful and very clean. The beds were very comfortable, bunk beds and floor space. Peaceful and quiet on the deck with a hottub. The house was immaculate and the kitchen and restrooms was well stocked with all your basic needs. We had a wonderful weekend. Rental office communicates very clearly and responds quickly. Super easy to work with and extremely accommodating. We will definitely be returning to the area and will rent this house again.
